We are two female designers from Australia who specialize in decorative lighting.
All our lights are made by hand many using natural materials found locally.
We belive in Conscientious Business Practices.
We work hand in hand with O.T.O.P and a woman's association in Thailand.
We belive that by supporting women we create a better future for the whole world.
We hope you enjoy our product range.
The flowers are all crafted by hand from real leaf skeletons and seed pods.
The leaves are harvested from the Para rubber tree hence there is a residue of rubber in the small veins which makes the leaf skeletons very strong.
The leaves are collected in June and July and placed in sacks in the river beside the village for 40 days.
This removes most of the cellulose.
Then they are soaked gently in washing soap till the remaining cellulose has dissolved, they are then dried and dyed and crafted in to the differant flower shapes.
As our lights are organic they will fade slowly with time, as they do they look more soft and antique.
They will last approximately 4 to 5 years.
O.T.O.P translates to" one village one product".
It is a Thai government project, which has created woman's associations to collect and show the diversity
of local wisdom and handicrafts.
O.T.O.P is especially helpful in areas of low industry and tourism, where families rely on farming and agriculture.
In our group there are currently 300 women, this work is their minor work and increases their income by
5000-10000 baht per month.
The villages are all in rural Thailand, this association helps enormously to better their standard of living.
